Five for Friday...Spring Break Edition

It is Friday...where has my week gone????  I've been on Spring Break this week and I swear I don't know where the week flew off to.  But I could definitely use more than just Saturday and Sunday before heading back!

It's been a while, but I am going to participate in Five for Friday via the wonderful Doodle Bugs Teaching.

So here it goes...
1. I made this wonderful crockpot lasagna to kick off my week.  Before I show you the picture, let me just say, I am a huge fan of crockpots.  This recipe is definitely in my top three crockpot recipes!  The picture will take you to the recipe's website!

2. After that, I kicked my week off with a pedicure with a teaching buddy! Gotta love the get together time outside of school.  And what better way to kick of a spring break staycation than with a pedicure?!  No pictures here...not a fan of feet pictures! HA!

3. I love that my mother works in a school setting as well. It's nice to have the same breaks as her (for the most part, we work for different districts).  So we met up and had a wonderful Olive Garden lunch!

4. I made a new product this week, which I am excited to use with my kiddos when we get back together.  We are loving everything clocks and time telling right now.  So I put together an interactive mini reader for my kids to practice filling in analog clocks while reading known sight words.  If you'd like a copy, leave me a comment with your email and I will pick a winner or two Sunday.

5. Nothing too exciting, just a little laminating therapy on a Friday!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Fun with Weather!

Hello Bloggy Friends! Happy Sunday to you! I'm a little bit sad thinking about how my Spring Break has come to an end.  Today is the last day.  I feel like I accomplished so much, but that I still have so much more I want to cram in today! So I decided to blog!!!

I wanted to pop in here and share with you my very first Science Unit I have created.  I have been working on it here and there over break so that I could have it ready for my kiddos upon return. And I'm happy to say, it's done!

When we come back from break, we will be starting our Weather Through the Seasons Unit.  Before we left, my students were so excited about the fact that Spring had started (even though it did not appear that way outside)! So building upon their excitement and the fact that this is the next science concept for us to study, I can't wait to see these activities in use in my classroom.

The packet includes a weather observation journal...

There are also vocabulary posters to accompany a vocabulary activity...

You can grab a Weather Vocabulary freebie by checking out the download preview.  I hope you and your students will be able to enjoy this weather unit. Also, stop back later this week to see how we're doing with this unit in the classroom!

Five for Friday...better late than never!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

I'm a little late to the party, but as the saying goes...better late than never!  I don't have a lot to share for this past week as I've been on Spring Break and enjoying every minute!

1. I was able to spend a lot of time with family this week, which was wonderful.  We did a lot of fun things, movies, greenhouse visit, Titanic Exhibit, breakfasts, lunches, dinners...we're pretty decent eaters!

2. I got some gorgeous flowers to make it start looking like spring outside, even if the weather has chosen not to want to cooperate on that front! I bought some gorgeous primroses (which I fell in love with last year) and had the cashier ask me if I'd ever seen or read the Hunger Games! I giggled to myself, of course I have!

3. I did a little shopping. I had to stop at Clinique for some make-up and wouldn't you know, it was free gift time! And I love the pattern!

4. I've done some spring cleaning. Probably not as much as I should have, but it's my break, right???

5. I made a new science unit to use with my kiddos when we start back on Monday.  It is a unit about weather and the seasons.

I am in need of a couple people who are willing to proof my new unit before I put it up on TpT.  If you are willing to do that, leave me a comment with your email. Thanks!

Spring Break Check In!

Before I went on Spring Break, I linked up for a Spring Break Bucket List Linky. So I figured I would check in and tell you all how it's going! I had ten things on my list of things I wanted to accomplish.  I still have several days of Spring Break left...here's what I put on my Bucket List:

1.Relax...I've definitely been doing this!
2. Get ahead on lesson plans...haven't gone near this one yet. I should probably at least think about starting this up!
3. Get back into a gym routine...glad to say, I have definitely done this!
4. Clean the school stuff in the basement...a little, not near as much as I had planned!
5. Spend time with family and friends...definitely have been doing this. One of my favorite parts of Spring Break!
6. Try some Pinterest Recipes...I've been doing this too!
7. Get a massage...check! And I scheduled one for the week I go back to work too!
8. Catch up on appointments I only make when I'm on breaks...I actually was quite successful with this!
9.Organize all the master copies I've been wanting to get organized...nope, not at all!
10. Enjoy an Easter Feast with the fam...sure did, and it was yummy!

I am trying to put together a weather unit for when I go back. That's the next big thing in Science and what we're doing our non-fiction writing about too! Hopefully I'll be able to post about it before Sunday!  I hope that those of you on Spring Break are enjoying it as much as I am. And for those of you who are back to school (or haven't made it to Spring Break yet), I hope your week is going smoothly.

5 for Five and Spring Break!

It's Monday, so I'm linking up with Fantastically Average for 5 for Five. So I am on Spring Break and hoping that I can go 5 for 5 this week.

But before I get ahead of myself, let me show you how I did last week. Pink I accomplished, green I did not! Last week Monday I had planned to do the following:
1. Go to the gym at least twice this week.  So this definitely didn't happen this week.  This week got really busy and I was finishing off my cold. Not to make excuses, tomorrow is the day!

2. Try a new recipe from pinterest. I tried a crockpot beef and broccoli recipe (link in picture) and it was fantastic.  Like having a meal from a chinese restaurant from the comforts of home!  You should definitely try this!

3. Clean off my kitchen table. I can finally sit and use my table again! We will see how long this lasts as I have some scrapbooking I want to do over Spring Break.

4. Print, prep, and laminate some new centers.  I got a bunch of stuff printed and prepped, but not laminated as the laminator is not currently working. Bummer!

5. Leave 2 blog comments daily. I did really well with this. But it was easy because there were so many good posts to read!

Now onto this week.  Here are my five and like I said, I'm on Spring Break, so there should not be issues with completing the things I'm listing!
1. Get to the gym at least 3 times this week. I have lots of appointments and lunches planned for the week, but I am more of a night gym-goer.  So this should not be a problem either!

2. Clean out my car.  It's been a while since I've cleaned out the inside of my car, so this will be a good thing!

3. Try another pinterest recipe.  Not sure what it will be, but it's always fun to try something new.

4. Create at least two new word work activities for my classroom.  We always love new activities and I've got a little spare time!

5. Reorganize monthly buckets (I just bought a couple more to split themes). I started out the year by putting ideas and books and such for certain months or holidays into plastic buckets.  It has worked out wonderfully, but some of the buckets are a little too full and need to be broken down a bit more! Target had the buckets I started out with clearanced out so how could I pass that up!

Wish me luck, and go check out 5 for Five to see what others are trying to accomplish this week as well!

Five for Friday, Hippity Blog Hop, and A FREEBIE!

This has been a really long week.  But it is Friday and I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

1. As I said, it's been a really long week. I've caught up on some grading, at my favorite coffee shop.  After which, I told myself I could not skip out on the grading as I did ever again. Grading heaps and piles is the worst!

2. We learned some more about magnets this week.  My kiddos have done really well with the experiments and making sure that they're following directions and taking turns.  This time, we were using our magnet flippy books from the wonderful Christina Bainbridge.  Each group of two had a cup of water with a paperclip inside.  They had to try to get the paperclip out of the cup without putting anything in the cup.  They did a wonderful job with this!

3. I finally got around to making a writing board to help my students to remember what they need to focus on in their writing.  I originally found this idea on pinterest which linked back to Zeek's Zoo!  We talk about these concepts a lot in my class.  I am hoping that having this visual will help my students to really work on the writing concept that they need to strengthen!

4. Today was officially my last day before Spring Break! Two weeks of catching up with friends, family, and appointments, here I come!  A teacher friend from college contacted me earlier this week saying she was going to be in town.  This would not usually be share worthy, except we haven't seen each other in over a year! So we are meeting up for lunch and catching up tomorrow afternoon.  Sounds like a perfect kickoff to my Spring Break!

5. I sent my kiddos home today with what they thought was great fun in the form of homework! Their spring break homework which they were cutely excited about is a Spring Break Journal.  If you'd like to send this home with your kiddos over break, head over to my TpT to check it out!

Now onto a great linky with attached giveaway! If you haven't already, you must head over to Learning with Mrs. Leeby. She is hosting a wonderful linky full of freebies.  Once you make it to the end of the linky (and have followed all the participating blogs) you can enter to win some great prizes!

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Midweek and A Linky!

I cannot believe that it is only Wednesday! You know that feeling you got as a little kid waiting for something big and exciting and it just took forever to be that special day (or time)? I totally feel like that right now! Spring Break is coming up and everyone is ready for it! I had a student ask me why today wasn't Friday and I had to hold in my laugh!

Anyways, to get over this slow week slump, I am linking up with the wonderful Mrs. Bainbridge.  She is hosting a linky to help show the love for blogs!
All you have to do is tell about a blog you love and why! It's as easy as that and in the process, you can brighten someone's day. So I am passing on a little bloggy love too! I have so many blogs that I enjoy reading! But nobody would want to read my post if I listed them all! I really enjoy reading Mrs. Fultz's Corner!  She has some wonderful tech tips and ideas that she shares! I totally just learned how to back up my blog the other day (should something ever go wrong or I want to change my site)!  Who even knew that was possible??  Not only does she share wonderful tech ideas, but her site is so bright and inviting, you can't help but feeling cheery while reading!  And as if that wasn't enough, she is the one who hooked me up with my cute new blog design.  She was very helpful (as I clearly had no idea what I was doing!) and speedy! So if you have a spare minute, or two, you should definitely check her out!

Hope your week is going well and that you'll join in and let someone know that someBUNNY loves  their blog!
