This Year's Coming to An End

So as I'm sitting here working on my report cards (which may be mixed with a bit of stalling now), I have been thinking about the things that I want/need for next year.  I will be staying in Kindergarten next year (as far as I know!) and I've been thinking as I'm inputting grades about the things I would like to make/use/have for next year's group of kinders.  I'm thinking of all aspects of my day...learning, management, technology!

So far I've got an anti-bullying unit brewing in my mind.  I just bought a new set of six books from scholastic that talk about fairness, responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, respectfulness, and caring.  I just finished mapping out a plan for what I'd like to make that could go with the books I bought, but also stand alone so others could use it without the books!

The next thing I was thinking of is a unit on plants. I found a few things here and there this year that were great for plants. But I would like to have a more cohesive plan for next year.

I am also working on adding and subtracting with a number line.  My students enjoyed using number lines for help with adding and subtracting this year.  So I am making something I can use with my kiddos for the last few days this year and again next year to help our addition/subtractions skills.  Who doesn't love a good frog hop math activity??

How are you kicking off the end of the year?

Top Ten for the Summer!

I am linking up with the Fabulous Deanna over at Mrs. Jump's Class for her Summer Top Ten List Linky!
As teachers, we really try to value our summers.  We always have so many things we want to do over the break. Yet somehow, at least in my life, I always end up doing more school stuff and less of the things I really wanted to do.  So I'm making a list and planning to really get on board with it!

1. I've got a couple weddings to attend this summer. So I'll be doing a little shopping for something to wear!

2. I plan to spend some time outside with the new patio furniture I just purchased...no picture as it's not yet completely put together!

3. I plan to catch up on Vampire Diaries via Netflix. I'm just hoping they get the latest season loaded soon!

4. Spend time with some friends that I don't get to see much during the school year. Being teachers and living hours apart does not make for easy get together!

5. Get myself back into a really good gym routine.  I do good for a bit during the school year and then I get off my schedule/routine. And then I don't always have an easy time getting back into that routine.

6. Get the school stuff out of my spare room.  I've switched grades schools a few times in the last few years and my spare bedroom is painfully aware of it. It needs to get reboxed, relabeled, and basemented! Several of those may be made up words!

7. Make pickles! A lovely friend of mine makes her own pickles every year.  And this year, she's offered to let me partake in the fun.  Nothing like fresh garlicy dill pickles. Cannot wait!

8. I'm doing a little gardening this year.  I have a flower garden and a few veggies/herbs each summer.  This year I plan to keep up on the weeding better!

9. Go through my closet. It's a mess. There's stuff in there that I haven't worn, probably in three years since I bought my house.  It's gotta go! I need to follow the, one in one out rule...new clothes in, old clothes out! But I'm terrible about it! I would love for my closet to look more like the one below and less like the disaster it currently is!

10. Relax! I already have so many things I want to accomplish this summer.  I need to remember to take a little time for myself and be okay with just doing nothing for a day!

What are your plans for the summer? Go link up and let us all know.  Now off to wrap up my planning for the end of the school year.  I have 13 days left, which includes a couple half days!

Five for Friday AND A GIVEAWAY!!!

I'm linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching for Five for Friday (on Saturday)!  Make sure you head over and check out what others have been up to this week.
Here's how my week shaped up...

1. We started end of the year testing this week.  We spent a lot of time talking about things that would help us rock our test. We had our first day of testing and kicked it off with a testing treat and reminder to rock the test!

2. I created an interview/writing packet for young kids that's on sale for the first 24 hours!

3. I started a Facebook page to go along with my blog. And I'm having a giveaway for new Facebook followers...check it out!

4. We wrote about what would happen if we were the principal. Their ideas were cute!

5. We also had a snack to help us sort out flat and solid shapes. Definitely a hit!

I hope your weekend is starting off well.  Don't forget to get a copy of my new interview packet while it's on sale and to enter to win an item of your choice for following me on Facebook!

Also, I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for the May Currently! Keep reading and then head over to see what others are up to.

Listening:  Grey's Anatomy...love me some Grey's!
Loving: That the weekend is near. Testing really makes the week drag on :/
Thinking: Now that it is May, the temperature needs to get out of the 40s or the April showers need to cease.
Wanting: New Facebook Followers...help a girl out!
Needing: To head to bed, but wanting to get this posted first. Guess who saved this instead of posting last night????
Surprise: The Moffatt Girls is a wonderful blog and Annie has some great products in her TpT shop that the kiddos (and myself) have really enjoyed this year!

Have a great Friday!
